Thanks for joining us ...

Round Tuit is our floating home, and this site is a window into the life we live on the cut.

You’ll find videos of our cruises, stories of our adventures and insights into how we cope with living in our tiny floating home.

A slow life on the water

We’re John, Lorraine and Boasley (our boat dog). We live aboard narrowboat Round Tuit and are continuous cruisers on the British waterways.

Join us as we travel the beautiful canals and rivers of Britain, discovering quiet corners and embracing unexpected experiences.

From busy locks and overgrown towpaths to beautiful sunrises and challenging winters. We’ll share our stories of joy, problems and the little things that makeup this amazing lifestyle.

Tales from a narrowboat

No two days are ever the same when you are traveling the canal network.

Some days we enjoy warm summer cruises, whilst on others there is nothing better than curling up in front of a lit stove. But the best parts of this lifestyle is the thrill of finding something new; a secret mooring, a heron in the reeds or a towpath trader with tales to tell.

Our travel diary

We write our narrowboat diary so that we can remember all of our wonderful experiences and how we dealt with the challenges that we’ve faced. We’d love to share our stories with you as well.

We’ll tell you about misty mornings, lock‑side chats and evenings under starlit skies as well as how we maintain our boat, repairs that need to be carried out and simply how we manage to live from day to day in this slightly unorthodox way.

So, step aboard as we drift through the seasons and follow the flow of the water.

Bobbin on the Water

When we’re moored up, we sometimes open our pop-up shop from the side hatch. We’d love you to come and see our collection of handmade items – inspired by life on the cut.

Crochet beanie hats, lace bookmarks and stitched gifts. Each one is made by hand, on our boat.

Whenever the weather’s kind and the towpath is favourable, our shop opens.

You’re warmly welcome to stop by, or you can visit our dedicated page to find out more.

From our online shop

Our online shop includes a collection of canal inspired items such as mugs, t-shirts, aprons and more.

We care deeply about the waterways that we call home, so we’ve carefully chosen a supplier that also cares about reducing their environmental impact:

  • Made from natural materials
  • Created using sustainable methods
  • Printed with environmentally friendly techniques
  • Designed to be easily recycled at the end of their life

Every item is made to order to reduce surplus and waste.
