We only travelled a very short distance this week. Leaving Droitwich Spa, we cruised slowly and eventually (after a few days) ended up mooring in Stoke Pound.
Next week we’ll be navigation through the Tardebigge Flight, so the video below shows the journey that we made to moor at the bottom of the flight, in preparation for this.
On Friday our friend Peter came to spend a few days on the boat, and we were very grateful for his help with the Astwood locks. Peter was the first person to brave an overnight stay on our boat, but I’m pleased to report that it worked pretty well, and it was great to have his company. Saturday evening we had a lovely meal at The Navigation Inn, and we’d definitely recommend this venue.
On the Thursday we needed to use the nearby pump out but (because we had trouble getting a mooring nearby and there wasn’t a winding hole at the bottom of the flight) we had to reverse the boat down through 3 locks. Fortunately, we didn’t meet anyone trying to come up, so in the end it wasn’t too challenging for John.
Next week we plan to do the Tardebigge Flight, so this week our aim was to get as close as possible in preparation for this.
It was lovely to have our first overnight visitor. Thank you, Peter, for helping us go through the Astwood locks.
