We found a nice quite mooring in Wolverley that was within easy walking distance of the local shops and had good internet access. There was Armco so it was simple to secure the boat using chains.

We had been traveling a lot since leaving Birmingham (through the beautiful Stourbridge countryside) so decided to spend 9 days resting up for a while. John took advantage of the mostly good weather and painted the boat’s engine bay, a really tough job that resulted in him aching for days after, but he was very happy with the end result.

Before leaving Wolverley we walked into Kidderminster and took a trip on the Severn Valley Railway to Bridgnorth. Built on the steep banks of the River Severn, Bridgnorth has stunning views and a funicular railway. The town centre has an amazing array of medieval buildings and narrow winding lanes, as well as the lovely gardens that have been created around what remains of the castle.

After our day out in Bridgnorth we needed to move the boat into Kidderminster itself. We had been given mixed advice about mooring in the town but couldn’t resist stopping for a day right outside the supermarket and we had no trouble whilst there (perhaps we were just lucky).

We had previously booked Boasley into the dog groomers in Kidderminster, so now he smells lovely and is much cooler because of his short haircut.

This was Boasley’s first steam train journey and he found it very exciting, but let’s be honest he finds everything very exciting.
