Environmental and Sustainability Statement
Last updated: 20th May 2026
At Narrowboat Round Tuit and Bobbin on the Water, sustainability isn’t an afterthought – it’s woven into the way we create, make and move through the world. Living and working aboard a narrowboat encourages a slower, more mindful rhythm to life and that same philosophy guides how we design products, choose partners and run our small business.
We believe that creativity and commerce can exist gently, with respect for the environment and the communities around us.
1. Our approach to sustainable production
All of our products are made to order through our production partner, Printful. This means:
- No mass production
- No excess stock
- No unnecessary waste
Every item is created only when someone chooses it, reducing the environmental impact associated with overproduction and discarded inventory.
Printful’s facilities use responsible production practices, including:
- Water‑based inks for printing
- Efficient energy use across fulfilment centres
- Recycling of fabric scraps where possible
- On‑demand manufacturing to minimise waste
2. Thoughtful design, minimal impact
Our designs are inspired by slow living, canal culture and the everyday beauty of life on the water. We create intentionally, focusing on timeless artwork rather than fast‑changing trends. This helps reduce the cycle of disposable products and encourages long‑lasting enjoyment.
3. Packaging and shipping
Printful uses packaging that is either recycled, recyclable or responsibly sourced.
Where possible, orders are fulfilled from the location closest to the customer to reduce shipping distances and carbon emissions.
4. Our commitment to continuous improvement
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. We are committed to:
- Reviewing our materials and suppliers regularly
- Choosing eco‑friendlier product options whenever available
- Reducing our own operational footprint aboard the boat
- Sharing updates openly as we grow and learn
We’re a small business, but we believe small steps – taken consistently – make a meaningful difference.
5. Community and connection
We encourage mindful purchasing and thoughtful consumption. Every order supports an independent creator and helps sustain a lifestyle rooted in simplicity, creativity and respect for the natural world.
